My name is Giulia, I am Italian.
I was born and raised in Brescia, Italy. I have started my dance education studying ballet and modern and contemporary dance at "Studio76", a school directed by Alessandra Angiolani and Michela Busi. Throughout the years I got the opportunity to work there as an assistant and also to teach classes.
I was studying computer engineering when I met Diego Tortelli, dancer and choreographer who showed me new tools to enjoy my dancing. I fell in love with those tools so much that after three years of mathematics and Java programming at the University of Brescia, I decided to leave and commit myself to dance.
I moved to Venice in April 2017, to be part of the Biennale College program directed by Marie Chouinard during the Biennale di Venezia. There, the practise of somatic approach techniques helped me to realise how strong was my urgency of dancing. During the program we also worked on SIDER by William Forsythe with David Kern, Roberta Mosca, Francis Chiaverini, Katja Cheraneva and Josh Johnson, and on a new choreography by Benoit Lachambre. Pieces that we both performed during the 11. International Festival of Contemporary dance "La Biennale di Venezia".
In September 2017 I moved to Madrid, to join Elephant in the Black Box Junior Company, directed by Jean Philippe Dury. There I trained in ballet, contemporary dance and hip hop, among the others with Jean Philippe Dury, Andrea Mendez Criado and Marco Blazquez.
I had the chance to study Ultima Vez repertoire with Eduardo Torroja, and doing many others exiting workshop and intensive with Celia Amade, Joseph Tonga, Tania Garrido and Francesco Vecchione, with whom I also collaborated by dancing his piece “Clavos” during Copenhagen Choreography International Competition in July 2018.
I often attend different workshops and masterclasses. I studied with Spenser Theberge, Dor Mamalia, Thomas Zamolo, Riley Watts, Francesco Nappa, Alessandro Sciarroni, Marcos Morau, Stijn Celis’ repertoire with Francesco Vecchione, Marco Goecke's repertoire with Giovanni Di Palma, Gaga and Ohad Naharin’s repertoire, Hofesh Shechter’s repertoire with Erion Kruja and Yeji Kim, Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten’s repertoire with dancers of the Ballet National de Marseille, Jiří Kylián’s repertoire with Valentina Scaglia.
Since October 2017 I am a dancer of Kor'sia, a company directed by Mattia Russo and Antonio de Rosa.
